“Support to the Institutes for Orphans and Disadvantaged Children in Khiam, Nabatye, Maaroub and Jowaya” L06-B2327 AID 8479.
Implemented by Ricerca e Cooperazione in partnership with Al Mabarrat Association
Project Manager: Mrs. Elena Roffi
Project Coordinator: Mrs. Rana Ismail

This project was Funded by ITALIAN COOPERATION FOR DEVELOPMENT, ROSS Emergency Program 2007/2008

The project stemmed from the urgent need to overcome the psycho-social traumas and destructions resulted from the Israeli war in Lebanon during Summer 2006.

Numerous minors lost one or more parents and relatives, and witnessed the partial or total destruction of their homes during the conflict.

Many others, who had already experienced these traumatic lost during the civil war and the Israeli occupation, encountered additional traumas during the conflict in 2006.

All this has produced psychological and social traumas often leading to PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorders), and has often resulted in physical damages and disabilities, too.

It appeared dramatically obvious that Lebanese children were in desperate need of educational and psycho-social support to develop adequate capacities to overcome the traumas derived from the war and from the lost and deprivations they experienced.

The project has fostered and guaranteed the provision of renewed opportunities for educational, psychological and social support, quality learning, care and personal development to the orphans and vulnerable children residing in the areas of Jowaya, Nabatiye, Khiam and Maaroub.

Project’s activities have fostered the restoration of pre-existent learning, care and support opportunities carried out by Al Mabarrat Association, especially in South Lebanon.
